She couldn’t believe he actually gone through with it.
She told him no — that is life was more valuable than
his need to fulfill whatever nonsense her brother filled
his head with. Katara wanted to drag Bumi back home,
where he would be safe without knowing the pains
she had. Why would he do this to his family? To his
mother?
”He’s gone—”
Her lips pursed as the rest of her, muscle and bone,
stood painfully still. Because she didn’t have to ask
to know exactly what was happening, but there was
something disconnected between logic and denial
that made her ask,
“Who?”
